And I agree with you tetrapod - the fact that some world leaders (ahem ... bush) claim to believe in God must ease their consciences as they run ripshod over the planet ravaging it's precious resources in a race to .... where? If all this LAST DAYS talk would cease and mankind actually took responsibility for the survival of the species then advancements would come much quicker and life expectancy would increase. Think of all that could be accomplished if the stem cell issue and cloning were debated without godspeak.

Life-threatening blind fanaticism
by Grace inin the aftermath of yesterday's london tragedy, the radio stations were rife with those calling in and talking about some religious fanatics on the other side of the world.
the radio commentator himself talked about how barber shops in baghdad were being bombed and barbers were having their lives threatened (or taken) because of one religion's decrees that hair should not be cut.
the commentary kept asking how do we negotiate with people like this?.

First time on here- DF'd almost 3 years ago

i recently got married, and of course it has made me look at how it feels like i gave up one life for another.
the only member of my family who is a jw is my mother- and it kills me that we pretty much no longer have a relationship.

Don't worry about whether or not you feel like anybody else. For many the hardest thing after leaving the dubs is learning to BE YOURSELF! - Minus the self-imposed 'new personality ' , robotic nature of being a witness.
Come here often, read, post, heal, grow . Most of all ... take your time. Recovery is a process.

she is too cute, except when she lands on my back with all four paws, claws out, to get my attention ... ouch!.
it just makes me wonder .. why is it okay to get our pets stoned, and not ourselves?.

Funny, the WTBTS are always comparing themselves favoribly to Christendom. But the r&f witlesses never check to see whether it is true. The when the question arises 'whom shall we go away to?', they are terrified of turning to any mainstream religion for their spiritual food .

Had the book study (Daniel book) tonight.
by ithinkisee inman, i had to read at the book study tonight (which is still at my house btw).. this was the first of the real "meat" of the daniel book (spam more like it, actually).. anyways, for those of you that don't know i am trying to get up the nerve to explain to my wife what i have been learning.

Oh God not again...

so far 33 have been declared dead with as many as three hundred injured.
please keep all of the victims in your prayers today and lets all hope that nothing else happens.. .

I said a prayer when I heard the news this morning. We can't get discouraged ... remember to be appreciative for where you are in this moment and for all those you hold dear. Never let a day pass without showing love to others ... we never know what day will be our last.

Funny story
by 9thWonder inone of my best friends lives in the same building as this single woman in the congregation i used to attend.
we'll call her "pam.
" this woman's father is an elder (he was on the committee that df'd me) and he lives in the building next to them.

That was probably 'Pam's' way of giving a witness to her neighbor, if she had never done so before. I can remember feeling extremely guilty for not witnessing to 'everyone I came in contact with' . She probably hoped she would read them herself (on the plane).
I think it's sad that some of us cannot say what we feel when we're confronted with something that makes us uncomfortable. She could have just refused. No can stand by itself. It leaves it to the other person to think of what to say next .
